Sometimes one just needs to remember...

I found myself getting very aggravated today.  The healing from my appendectomy seemed like it was taking forever.  I was tired of hurting, oozing, feeling holes and scabs.  I was impatient with the whole process and actually hating my body for all the hell it's been putting me through.

And then... I realized something.  It's no wonder things are going wonky with my healing process.  All this hate and aggravation was turning itself into the infection.  I had a bad attitude toward my body and thus my body was giving me all the ick it could.

So I turned around and decided to do one happy thing.  It could have been anything.  Creating something.  Making myself laugh.  Being silly.  What I did was turn up the mp3 player and DANCE.  OK, probably not the wisest thing to do when the body is healing... but 5 minutes of dancing made my soul feel better and, in turn, the pain went away for a few hours.  (Granted I oozed a lot in that time, but better out than in, right?)

Healing is not a passive thing... it's an active state of mind.  It's willfully putting the body back together into its correct or better configuration.  It's an act of Love.  It's saying that I love myself so much that my mindset needs to bring my body back into alignment.  It's actively acknowledging and acting upon all those things that need to bring about wellness-- whether it means taking it easy, eating foods that promote healing, listening to doctor's orders, and sometimes getting up and dancing to connect with the universal life force again.

Rock Star Scientist

This is Brian Cox, one of the youngest professors of Physics in England.  Crazy smart, not bad on the eyes, fun to listen to. :)   Just sharing...

delay

OK.. so finishing Mr Sloth has been delayed a little.  On 1/12, I had to go in for an emergency appendectomy. I'm home and recovering now, but still a bit sore and slow from the percocets.  The challenge now is trying to remember that the hurting now is going toward healing... that all this aggravation will be done in days.  I'm not patient sometimes.  :P

So instead I leave you with this that makes me squee:  Bush covering "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones:

Sloth Experiment ... Progress

OK... I have been working on this little guy from 3pm until about 10:30pm.  I tried doing him up with the sewing machine, but then discovered I was fucking things up a little... so I went back to sewing by hand.  He still needs a bit of fixing still.

To do:
Stuff his right arm.
Sew it to his body.
Stuff his body.
Sew him up.

And then he is done!

Sloth Experiment

I love sloths.

I decided that I needed to make a stuffed one so the top pic is my "pattern".  The second pic is the face of my sloth.  :)  I'm enjoying working with the fabrics.

Experimental Mala #2

Experimental Mala #2

Dyed green imperial jasper, bronzite, various agates... all on copper beading wire, silver metal guru bead and spacer beads, red tassel.  108 beads total.

All the stone beads are 10mm making this a heavier mala.  Between the earthy colors and the physical heaviness, it feels very grounding.

I guess this means I should be on to sewing crafts.  While we were wandering today I saw a nifty little tote bag for a Nook/Kindle/ereader sort of thing.  Now... I want to make one.  I an thinking of taking some tips from this site: Obsessive Crafting Disorder.  We'll see where we go from there.

Experimental mala

First experimental mala-- 54-count, purple dyed imperial jasper with silver guru and marker beads.

LOL...  made while watching Carl Sagan's "Cosmos".

Happy New Year, 2012

I think it is time to start anew. New blog, new year, new adventures.

In this new year, I vow to be more creative. I am going to explore things in textiles-- making aliens, a quilt, maybe clothes and bags? I am going to explore more in paint and web design. I am going to try to explore more in words and stones and spirituality.
